November 30: A busy week for dreams

I've had quite a few dreams since my last post. I've prioritized other things in front of updating this blog - I know, I know. How could I? So, before I forget more details than I already have, here are this last week's celebrity dream cameos:

Tom Selleck appeared in my dream as a stripper whose theme was being an electrician. Of course, the Tom Selleck in my dream was not that of the "Blue Bloods" era, but more of the "Magnum P.I." age. The strange thing was, he didn't strip. He was dressed like a stripper (with the utility belt and bare chest), but he just stood at the end of the stage and told terrible electrician jokes about climbing log poles.

Carson Daly made an appearance the same night. You know Carson Daly - he used to be on MTV (is it sad that is the last thing I remember him from??). In my dream he was featured in a newspaper article about the resurgence of the New Kids on the Block. Yes, my subconscious put Carson Daly in NKotB AND made them all appear as if they haven't aged a day since 1984.

Just the other night, both Michelle Pfeiffer and Taylor Swift made appearances. The Michelle Pfeiffer one was especially confusing and odd. In the dream I was Michelle, but not. And I was trying to make some dude jealous by purposely getting caught red-handed with another guy. The guy I chose reminded me a lot of Greg Grunberg, but I don't think it qualifies as an appearance. We joked about how there was no way I was 37 like I was claiming. (Michelle is 56 years old, but I bet she could get away with 45!) At the point where when it gets down to the nitty gritty, the condom was always faulty in some way. I've had similar dreams before where it gets to that point and then the dream ends. This time it was because I went to the bathroom to look for a usable condom, realized I had to pee and I woke up to use the loo.

Taylor Swift's appearance was brief, but pleasant. In the dream, we were friends and just hanging out, talking about boys. I suppose I had that dream because I had surprised (and shamed? *points accusatory finger) my sister that evening by revealing that "Shake It Off" (a song she has been jamming out to unsuspectingly) is a Taylor Swift song. Ha!

Also, a while back, I had a dream that I was in a movie with Jon Stewart. I'd been watching :The Daily Show: every night and he's been promoting his movie "Rosewater", so that's where that came from I'm sure.

A brief dream history...

Now that I've made the first "real-time" post about a celebrity dream cameo, I figure I should give a little bit of background.

Ever since I was about 18 years old, I've had dreams featuring celebrities on a regular basis. Mostly, the dreams feature male celebrities or famous people. This makes sense as I am a woman and of the straight persuasion. The best thing about these dreams, however, are that they are so very "normal". There is not much fooling around. These dreams seem to be my subconscious taking someone who I've never met and putting them together with me in a situation that is as normal as a dream can get.

I have my favorites from the past:

The dream where I was standing in line to go to a movie with Bill Clinton, but my fiance, Joe Pesci, got jealous and dragged me away. I remember that he got me this huge engagement ring and every time I opened a door or grabbed onto something, it would clink really loudly.

The dream where Paul Hogan (that's right, Crocodile Dundee) and I were walking romantically on the beach at sunset. (No other details available. *waggles eyebrows* Just kidding - all my dreams are pretty clean...)

Any number of the appearances that Benedict Cumberbatch has made as the guy who always needs to borrow my Starbucks tumbler and I never want to lend it to him because he might not bring it back.

The time Miley Cyrus and my cousin were spies for opposing countries, but Miley didn't know I was my cousin's cousin and she told me of her plan to assassinate him on the beach using old-fashioned land mines hidden in the sand.

There are more, of course, but I did say "brief history". I've always had a very colorful, interesting "dream life" as far back as I can remember. I often wake myself up with my own laughter or when I start to say something especially important to the dream aloud. Sometimes I can fly and lately I can change a dream if I don't like the way it is going. Often I will have serial dreams where it will build on a previous dream or set of dreams. I guess it makes going to bed something to look forward to. :)

November 20, 2014: Ashton Kutcher comes for a visit

Last night I had a dream that Ashton Kutcher had a "cameo" in. Unfortunately, I had forgotten about the dream until mid-morning when I was in class and it popped into my head. Because I didn't think about it until then, the details are a bit fuzzy; the most important thing in the dream seemed to be that Ashton had come over to stay the night (I think he was just staying the night on his way to somewhere else, kind of like a layover??), but my roommate and I had been gone over the weekend and we had left our place a mess. I decided to try to vacuum the carpet at least (the carpet, by the way was this terrible bright blue and it was that textured/patterned shag that was popular in the '80s), but my roommate had clothes strewn everywhere - there were an awful lot of bras and panties around...

Ashton didn't seem to mind the mess and he got right into his flannel pajamas and was walking around barefoot. I was mortified at the thought of crumbs and stuff sticking to the bottoms of his feet and continued to vacuum the floor even though it was late at night. I can't remember much else except that Ashton was impressed by how quiet, yet powerful my vacuum was. (Yes, I am quite impressed myself.)

Observations:
It's funny how my dreams take elements from the previous day and mix them up into odd dreams. I don't know where the Ashton part came from, but the vacuum part came from my discussion with my classmates of my beautiful Filter Queen vacuum and how much I love to vacuum. Also, I don't have a roommate, but in my dream one of my friends from Japan, Lisa, was my roommate. :)
